The Killington Library is hosting a resort librarian meeting. Anyone interested in attending? No one was able.
The first set of new Ingram books are here – primarily junior fiction.

Library Trustee Meeting Minutes (continued)
It was decided that the Book Club will not meet during the summer months, but will resume sometime in September. Regular host, Sharon Mayer, encourages members to read the next selection, Twenty Chickens For A Saddle by Robyn Scott, at their leisure and be prepared to discuss it in the fall.
Angelique Lee offered to take on the task of finding a suitable sofa for readers with funds from the Turrell Grant as previously decided.
July 12th was chosen as the start date for this summer’s Saturday morning Story Hour. The library will be open from 9 to 11 for story hour and a related arts & crafts project suitable for preschool aged children. A variety of library enthusiasts are encouraged to assume responsibility for hosting at least one of these sessions.
It was mentioned that the Roger Clark Memorial Library was largely featured in a documentary film about the Cliff Grant Children’s Literacy Foundation.
A note was written to thank Mr. Skrobak for his retirement planning presentation on May 28th.
The meeting was adjourned by 8:30 pm
Start planning, here are some of our Summer Schedule Highlights, we'll get you more details soon.
Look for monthly community picnics with some extra surprises. The picnics will be from 4 to 7pm on June 29th, July 20th & August 24th
We'll add 9 to 11 Saturday mornings to our library hours starting July 12th.
We'll run our Saturday story and craft program for kids every week from July 12th through the end of August.
.Also look for a Mushroom Walk July 15th, a nature scavenger hunt, parachute games and more.
Hello all,
Thank you to those who attended the last meeting and discussed "Three Weeks with My Brother". The concensus was that this is a lovely book and an enjoyable read.
As we all have many commitments and obligations, vacations planned and LOTS to do this summer, we have decided to suspend the meetings of the book club for the summer months. We will resume in September. The book chosen by April for the next meeting is "Twenty Chickens for a Saddle" by Robyn Scott.
The plan is to order this book now for those interested and give everyone ALL SUMMER to read it. So, please RSVP as soon as possible if you are interested in being included on this order. I will be putting in the order on Monday, June 9th and will need your response by then in order for you to be included.
I will send the September meeting date out in August.
Have a great warm summer,
Sharon
Our next volunteer and trustee meeting is Thursday June 5th at 6:30.
We would really like to nail down our summer schedule so we can send out a town wide mailing. WE CAN'T RUN ANY PROGRAMS UNLESS WE HAVE VOLUNTEERS WILLING TO MAKE A COMMITMENT. Please come to the meeting and let us know what you are able to do. If you can't make the meeting please let us know if you can:
Run a Saturday morning craft and story program (just one would help),
host one of our monthly picnics (we'll do one each month for 3 months),
run an adult program (speak or present on something you think would interest the community),
organize outdoor games during a picnic or another evening (kick the can etc..).
To see the agenda click here. If there is anything you would like added to the agenda, just let me know.
Eight teens met for our first Teen Advisory Group meeting. They perused our junior fiction collection and marked "Young Adult" themed books with yellow stickers. Favorite books were reviewed and marked with orange stickers, with the review tucked inside, so be sure to check out what your friends are recommending! Pizza and brownies were consumed in huge quantities, and the group gave us very specific guidance on titles and authors they would like to see added to the collection. Look for these new books to start appearing on the shelves in the next month or so, their purchase is funded by the Turrell Fund grant.
It is hard to come up with a common meeting time during the busy summer months, but the group was tossing around plans for everything from a library sleep over to a band as their next activity! If you'd like to know when the next TAG activity is planned, email us to be included. The group is for grades six and up.
The Mayer family recently made a generous donation of Young Adult fiction, so there is A LOT of great summer reading material available, come check it out!
Last night Andrew Skroback gave a wonderful talk on investing. It was a great overview putting volatility in perspective. He spoke about using education to remove fear and greed from investing, and about the effects of inflation on your money. We had a small turnout, but those that showed up received a great education.
Mr Skroback brought an amazing chocolate cake to share with us all, and his daughter Kim Robertson and her husband Matt did all the set up and cleanup. Thank you very much to the Roberston / Skroback family for helping us get our adult programs started. We hope to have several more this summer. And don't forget, the library is not just for kids, we've added close to 300 new books to our adult collection in the last year. Stop in and borrow a book, it's free!
Roger Clark Memorial Library
Meeting Minutes 5/8/08
Treasurer’s report: half.com $113.51, checking $4784.96, Ranney and Jutson CDs $1000 each, AEF Award CD $1197.97.
Book purchase. Susie has reviewed the Ingram list for duplicates. Teens will check it out at their meeting. Should be ready for Angelique to order!
Work day went really well – we had 10! Ideas for on going volunteer projects include to display or feature books to increase circulation – whether it be a sticker on the spine or special recommended section – sweeping, and encouraging clipboard usage to sign out magazines for 1-week period, perhaps a “conscience jar” on the desk in lieu of late fees.
We’ll plan summer family picnics for last Thursday of month at 5:30 – as results of the survey were inconclusive.
Andrew Skroback will be here on 5/28 at 7 to present “Retirement Planning 101.” Sharon will locate a large screen. Susie, Angelique, and Marion will work on refreshments and promotion.
TBA adult programs: Feng shui (Angelique), Apple Pie 101 (Sharon and Susie), mushrooms (Jason), origami (Angelique), meteor shower…
4th of July proposal from Courtney was greatly appreciated, but consensus was that library volunteers already had a full plate this summer.
Summer programs: Joyce will help with game nights; April and Angelique (Kelly, too?) will handle story hour. Maybe Karen can bring her grill to picnics again? Special events at picnics – investigating campfire songs (with GS leaders?), drum circle performers, Stephen Coronella, Doug Lewis, Pea Pickers, Peter Hike (moths)…
Angelique and Marion are coordinating mailing to Pittsfield box holders – will need help.
on A great community
